My design process:

01
DISCOVERY

You set the objective, I'll help you get there. We'll start with a conversation about your business goals, what is working and what isn't, and solutions to help you reach your vision.

02
PRE-WORK

This phase is all about you and your business goals. By the end of Pre-work you will have shown me what defines your business and how you want to present it to the world.

03
DESIGN

Using your input from the Pre-work phase I will create multiple pieces of design collateral for your review. You will help fine-tune these drafts so we can both enter the building phase with confidence!

04
BUILD

This is the part where I put my nose to the monitor and get the work done. I may go quiet while I take care of the nitty-gritty, but I'll keep you updated regularly on my progress.

05
REVIEW

Before your site goes live I do a final sweep to make sure everything works just right. At this stage I will also share a secure link with you to review the site and make any last minute tweaks.

06
LAUNCH!

Hooray, your site is live! To ease the transition, I'll provide post-launch training and instructional materials to get you up and running. It's time to celebrate your business’s new online home!

FAQ

01

How much does a website cost?

Every project is different, so I like to chat with potential clients before offering a quote. After I learn more about your goals I will put together a customized proposal that outlines cost and benefits. My initial consultation is free, and you are under no obligation to work with me.

02

Do you offer payment plans?

You bet! Typically I like to break a project fee out into two or three payments, but I’m  flexible and understand that cash flow can be a challenge. I’m happy to figure out a plan that works for you.

03

How long does a project take and how soon can you start?

Project duration varies depending on the complexity of the website so I do my best to include a timeline estimate in the initial proposal. On average, smaller brochure sites take six weeks, while larger or ecommerce sites take two to three months. I typically book out two months ahead, but my availability fluctuates.

04

Will you be available to help after my project is done?

Certainly! Websites are rarely one-and-done as the health and relevance of any site ebbs and flows with changing technology, user behavior, and search engine algorithms. I provide ongoing support to my clients through monthly retainers for larger work volume, or at an hourly rate for one-off updates.

05

What platforms do you work in?

I work most often in WordPress and Squarespace. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, and I’m happy to discuss options and make my recommendation during our discovery call.

06

What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, refers to improving the visibility of a website on search engine results like Google. (Think of getting from page 10 to page 1 of the results for a certain search query.) SEO includes wide-ranging and ever-changing tactics and best practices, from website content strategy to software additions. I include SEO best practices in all of my website projects.

07

Will my website work on a cell phone?

Absolutely, and it needs to! Did you know that more than 50% of web content is viewed on cell phones? Mobile optimization is the final step in my build process. I will optimize every page of your website for mobile and tablet viewing so that your site looks sharp on every device.
