Hi, I'm Kari.

I'm a solution-oriented person, a believer in open and direct communication, and a true empath. As a trained systems thinker, I love helping clients develop and implement digital strategy by thinking big, and backsolving to get there. I'm thoughtful about who I work with because I pour a lot of myself into every project.

My background is as wide-reaching as my interests. I have worked in fundraising for an environmental nonprofit; I studied food systems and policy in graduate school; I have taught elementary students in a farm-to-school program; I have contributed to the Boston Globe food section; I garden, knit, hike, and travel as much as possible. I make hard cider, all kinds of fermented goodies, and I cook a lot. My passion and curiosity are part of why I love working freelance: it's such a pleasure to meet and learn from all kinds of different people.

I have a Certificate in UX and Visual Design from the University of Washington, a master's degree in Gastronomy from Boston University, and a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Linfield College.

So, is it "carrie" or "kah-ree"?
Glad you asked! My name is pronounced kah-ree (rhymes with Ferrari). It's a family name from way back in my Norwegian ancestry, and I've been told it means 'gust of wind.' I haven't verified that but I like it, so we'll go with it.

Normally he's asleep on the floor of my office, but occasionally he climbs mountains for summit glamour shots. Here he is at the top of Mt. Townsend.
